Lots of new stuff and interview

Hola hola carambola!

Last month have been relatively good with new stuff and fleamarket findings! :)

Here is the stuff that I found from fleamarkets during the past month:

My first Spectrum tapes that I have ever seen in my life. :) Found them on a fleamarket 3€ / piece. Another one is some kind of programming assembler and other is obviously a chess game.

Some PS2 games for couple Euros, UMD movies 0,50€/piece and not so typical finding from fleamarket, a Master System game. Alex Kidd The Lost Stars. 

More PS2 games and some Xbox games from fleamarket, few Euros / piece.

I did some trading with my friend. I traded some Vic-20 literature, that I bought 2 months ago, for these Videopac games. For some weird reason I like the cover art of the Videopac games. Can't say same about the graphics of the games... :D

Then some Ebay findings. I was missing a Game Gear from my collection. I found this from familiar seller from France. The console has screen/sound problems that are typical for the Game Gear, so I need to do some recapping work when I have time.

These Super Famicom games I found from the same French seller. I bought them just for curiosity, because the price was less than 1€ / piece. Now I need to find myself a Super Famicom - console so I can test these games... :)

Vectrex game Blitz! is also from same French seller. Jaguar CD games I found from Germany about 15€ / piece which in my opinion is quite good price of Jaguar games and they are quite hard to find these days + Hover Strike is a NIB game. Rest of the games I found from UK, few Euros / piece.

Definitely my best finding of the month was a almost CIB Atari Jaguar - console. The package was missing the Cybermorph game cartridge and the video lead cable. Well I happen to have both of the missing items at my storage, so now I have CIB Jaguar. In the picture you can see rest of my Jaguar collection.

At the topic I mention the interview. There was an interesting project with the local newspaper and high school. High school students made all interviews and articles for the Finnish independence day issue of the local newspaper called Jurvan Sanomat. Two young gentlemen wanted to do an interview of my retro game collecting, so I gave them an interview. The interview is sadly only in Finnish, but please let me know if you want to read it in English and I can translate it... :)

All quiet in retro-front

Howdy!

Last month have been quite quiet in the retro front. Not much findings, some updates for the few boxes of NES games and few new Playstation games.

Here are few pictures of some more interesting findings:

Couple Commodore 64 games that I found from my friends attic and few games that I found through my add. Some games I already had, so I sold them already with one extra C64 I had.

More interesting and rare finding are the Vectrex games. I found them for a quite good price from Ebay. Some games had manuals, sadly all the games were missing the screen overlays.

Autumn update

Good day to my blog readers and greetings from autumnal Finland!

New stuff have arrived to my collection! :)  First I want to show you my newcomer to my Commodore family: VIC-20

I exchange this beauty to some extra games that I had in stock. The condition of the both boxes, VIC-20 and Datassette, is really good!

The set included some cartridges: few games, memory expansion and programming carts. Some carts had also the manuals.

Some programming books and manuals. Some manuals were in Swedish, apparently the previous owner was Swedish speaker... 

Here is a pic of my CIB Commodore collection. I also have loose C-128 and first model of Commodore 64, but it's not included in the picture.

Here's some misc games that I have found from fleamarkets, bought from private sellers or from Ebay:

One of my friend exchange these original Xbox games for 3 beers... :)  Not bad deal at all...

And last but not least, some NES findings from Ebay and Galaxian, that I change with a fellow collector...

How-diddly-dildo!

Last weekend we had a flea market rally at our village. Lot's of people in a small village... :) I had some retro game sales at my mom's workspace. :) I did some sales, but not much. That's the problem when living in a small place...

My cat Marilyn gave some helping paw for putting the price tags for games... :D

Today I went to one crappy fleamarket, where I usually go once in a year, because there's not much change in a stuff and the whole place look's like a total disaster. Well what do you know!
Big bunch of PS2 games + couple PS3 games: total price of 20€. Alone the Genji and Forgotten Realms are little over 20€, so not bad finding at all...

Also the postman paid a visit and brought some Sega Mega Drive goodies. Whole lot cost 80€. All games were CIB. Alone the Herzog Zwei cost around 35-40€, so it's almost the half of the price of whole lot. :)

Then some additions and findings! :) My beloved wife found these figurines from flea market. Also these figurines were sold with the kids meal in that fast food restaurant, which has the golden M letter. I'm really surprised how good the quality of these figurines are...

At last Saturday I got a call from nice gentleman. He said, that he has 3 broken consoles: two Xboxes and Playstation. He said that if I want the consoles, I can pick them up for free, otherwise he will throw them to trashcan. Well I agreed to take them and in 10 minutes I was at the gentleman's yard to see what he have. This is all that I got:

- Xbox 360 Arcade with power supply and box
- Xbox 360 Pro (old model without HDMI-port)
- Xbox 360 20 GB & 120 GB hard drives
- Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit
- Xbox 360 various cables (component, composite and vga cables)
- Xbox 360 wireless controller
- Playstation 2 Slim with power supply
- Playstation 1 controller
- Playstation various cables (2 rca-cables and rgb-cable)


Of course immediately I had to test these when I got back home. First I tested the PS2. Cables connected: CHECK! TV On: CHECK! Disc in: CHECK! Power on: CHECK!

And what do you know! The damn thing works like a charm! I tested with a game little while and it works! Not bad for a broken console... :)

Then the Xbox turn. Older Pro model I couldn't test, because it use different power supply than the Arcade model, so does it work, it remains as a mystery... With the other Xbox I did same procedures as with the PS2: CHECK! CHECK! CHECK! It loads perfectly to the dashboard. Let's try the game and hellll yeahhh, it also works like a charm!

So not bad for being a trash: at least 2 of 3 consoles works... :)

Back in business! :)

Hi fellow collectors and blog viewers!

It's been 2 months since my last post to the blog. I've been on my summer holidays and damn I've been busy. I have made some facade renovations to my house and that took my whole summer holidays and not much time to write to the blog.

But I haven't forget the collecting in these past 2 months! :)
I've done some good findings from fleamarkets, frome private sellers and by some exchanging.

Let's see what I got:

These consoles I got by the privat sellers. Playstation 2 set had only Guitar Hero III and Band Hero games, but gladly they were CIB (complete in box). Xbox had mainly only some sports games, but atleast the price was cheap. :)

Here are the same Xbox games. Xbox 360 games I found flom fleamarket, whole set for 10€. Megadrive and N64 Clayfighter I got from private seller and NES games from Ebay.

Yayyy! Now I have CIB Gamecube! This beauty I exchanged with fellow collector to some NES games. 3DS games I bought from CDON.com discount sales and Mega Man 2 and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts I bought from fellow collector from France.

And more fleamarket findings! All these I found in one fleamarket run: Commodore 128 with one module game was 30€. It has some problem with power connector that I will fix when I have more time. Miscellaneous PS2, WiiU and Xbox360 games was total of 10€. The Luigi figurine was sold with the kids meal in that fast food restaurant, which has the golden M letter...

These games I bought from a private seller by an ad in a local facebook fleamarket. Some good titles for PS1: Spyro games, Spider-Man, Rayman 2 and Crash Bandicoot 2.

My brother-in-law is visiting here in Finland and he's hosting a Youtube page called Pixel & Paper in Mexico. We have been filming a video about my collection and collecting + we also made a fleamarket special. Milestone of 1000 visitors!

First of all, I want to thank you all for reading my blog! I crossed now the milestone of 1000 visitors, yayyy!!! :)

I will now write my first post in English, because I have been receiving a lots of hits to my blog from foreign countries. I have received lots of pageviews from:

1. Mexico
2. United States
3. Portugal.

+ Some random pageviews from 6 other countries...

For Mexican pageviews, I have to thank my brother-in-law Fernando for promoting my page in Mexico. :) Thanks Fer!


So now it might be the turning point for my blog, should I start to write the blog in English?

Voivottelua ja päivittelyä

Hyvää kesän alkua kaikille!

Melkoista hiljaiseloa on ollut keräilyrintamalla. Muutama random peli on löytynyt kirppiksiltä, lähinnä PS2, PS3 ja Xbox360 pelejä.

Mutta jotain isompaakin ja mainitsemisen arvoista... :)

Netti-ilmoittelun kautta tuli tarjous Megadrive II - koneesta kahdella paskalla urheilupelillä 20€ hintaan. Meinasin jättää koko paketin väliin, kun molemmat pelit jo on hyllyntäytteenä, ja konsolikin on jo kokoelmissa. Onneksi en jättänyt... Kävin hakemassa koneen ja konetta myyvä nainen kysyi, että kiinnostaako minua vanha tietokone. Ajattelin, että tarjolla on joku vanha PC:n raato, mutta katotaan nyt ihan mielenkiinnosta. Nainen kävi kaivamassa komeroa ja tuli muovilaatikon kanssa, missä oli Commodore 64. Paketissa oli 1541-II levyasema, C2N kasettiasema, joystickkejä ja pelejä. Kasettipelit olivat vielä kaikki alkuperäisiä. 

Jostain nainen löi vielä samaan pakettiin parit PS3 ja Xbox pelit. Taisi nainen myydä miehensä/lapsensa pelikonsolit pois... :)

Ostoksia tutkiessa, sieltä löytyi tämä hieno Ultima V - kangaskartta

Vaihtohommia tuli myös tehtyä. Retropelifoorumilla näin myynti-ilmoituksen käyttämättömästä Segan Master Systemistä. Pahvit oli hieman kärsineet, mutta sisusta oli uutta ja priimaa. Kaikki oheislaitteet olivat edelleen vielä avaamattomissa muoveissa. Myyjän kanssa saatiin vaihtokuviot hierottua kuntoon ja kone vaihtoi omistajaa. Harvemmin sitä pääsee haistelemaan uutta 80-lukuista pelikonsolia... Haisee muuten eroottiskuvottavalle... :)

 

Retropelinäyttelylle jatkoaikaa!

Heipähei arvoisat lukijat ja seuraajat!

Sattuikin niin sopivasti, että Nurmon Kirjastosta ilmoitettiin, että Kesäkuun näytteilleasettaja on perunut näyttelynsä, joten sain mahdollisuuden jatkaa näyttelyä Kesäkuun loppuun saakka. Eli jos olette liikkeellä Etelä-Pohjanmaalla Nurmon suunnalla, niin käykääpä Nurmon Kirjastossa piipahtamassa ja tarkastamassa näyttely. Tässä vielä jatkosta mainos... :)

Jatkoksi laitetaan pari hankintakuvaa: Segan, SNES:n ja NES:in pelit löytyi Ebaysta, loput löytyi kirpputoreilta. 

Tässä ollut melko kiireinen aikatalu, joten jätän tämän kuun Mikä ihmeen - osion kirjoittamatta aikataulullisista syistä, katsotaan Kesäkuun aikana, jos saadaan jotain aikaiseksi... :)

Parin viikon päivittelyt

Melkein kuukausi mennyt edellisestä päivityksestä, tässä oltu mahataudin ja flunssan kourissa, joten kirjottelu on jäänyt vähän vähemmälle. Mutta paljon on tapahtumia ollut viimeisen kuukauden aikana! :)


Muutama viikko sitten, työkaverini lahjoitti kokoelmiini Vectrexin ja muutaman pelin, ehkä paras työpäivä ikinä! :) Konsolissa on joku konkka ilmeisesti vuotanut, kone toimii kylmänä hyvin, mutta kun kone lämpenee, niin alkaa ilmetä grafiikkavikoja... Korjataan kun keretään! :)

Pari paketti tuli myös Ebaysta taas ostettua, halvalla kun sai... Muutama Nintendo 64 ja NES peli, sekä muutama Sega Master System, Saturn ja Dreamcast - peli. :)

Viime kuussa mainitsin, että Retropelihelvetti lähtee "ulkoilemaan". Eli tuli kuumehuuruissa käytyä pystyttämässä se retropelinäyttely sinne Nurmon Kirjastoon.  

Näyttelyn mainos

Muutin tuota alkuperäistä suunnitelmaani jonkin verran konsoleiden osalta, kun alkasin miettimään kronologista julkaisujärjestystä. Gamecube ja Dreamcast olivat ajallisesti "liian tuoreita" konsoleita laittaa näytille, joten korvasin ne Atari Jaguarilla ja Playstation 1:llä. Eli näyttelyn kokoonpano on kronologisessa järjestyksessä seuraavanlainen:

- Atari 2600

- Vectrex

- NES

- Master System

- Mega Drive

- SNES

- Atari Jaguar

- Saturn

- Playstation 1

- Nintendo 64

Yhdelle hyllylle laitoin käsikonsoleita esille: Gameboy ja 5 eri mallisarjan Game & Watch konetta. Jos olette Nurmon suunnalla liikkeellä, niin käykääpä pyörähtämässä! :)

Takaisintulomatkalla tuli pikaisesti vielä napattua kyytiin yksi Mega Drive - paketti kyytiin... :)

Mikä ihmeen Atari 2600?

Atari 2600:

- Atarin vuosina 1977- 1992 valmistama 2. sukupolven pelikonsoli
- Prosessorina koneessa on MOS 6502:n kutistettu versio 6507. Prosessori toimii 1,19 MHz    kellotaajuudella. Osoiteavaruuden koko on vain 8 kilotavua.
- Koneessa on 128 tavua keskusmuistia
- Koneen TIA-videopiirissä ei ole lainkaan DMA:ta, joten kaikki grafiikka on toteutettava tarkasti ajoitetulla rekisterin käsittelyllä.
- TIA-videopiiri mahdollisti ruudulle 128 väriä samanaikaisesti (4 väriä / vaakarivi), pari erityyppistä sprite-objektia ja mahdollisuuden käyttää karkeaa taustakuvaa

- koneesta on julkaistu 7 erimallista variaatiota:
     * CX2600 "Heavy Sixer" (1977)

- Japanissa konsoli julkaistiin mallinumerolla 2800.

- Pelit ROM-moduuleilla. Pelejä julkaistu 565 kappaletta (mukaan laskettu viralliset Atarin ja Searsin julkaisut, 3. osapuolen julkaisut ja myöhemmin tehdyt homebrew-pelit). Parhaiten myynyt peli: Pac-Man (n. 7 miljoonaa kappaletta)

Retropelihelvetti lähtee "ulkoilemaan"

Täällä taas!

Kolmisen viikkoa vierähtänyt edellisestä päivityksestä. Melko hiljaista on ollut hankintojen kanssa, kirppiksillä käynyt pariin otteeseen, mutta aika tyhjä arpa ollut tällä kertaa. Pari Playstation 2 - peliä tarttui matkaan mm: Project: Snowblind ja Tokobot Plus.

Eilen tuli haettua kasa pelejä, jotka löysin Facebook - kirppiksen kautta, kasassa ei itselle oikeastaan ollut muuta uutta kuin Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Turok: Evolution ja Tekken 4. Koko kasa 30€, joten ei tuosta nyt viitsinyt kieltäytyäkkään... :)

Facebook - kirppiksen löytöjä

Tosin kuten otsikkokin kertoo, Petun Retropelihelvetti lähtee hieman ulkoilemaan. Eräs tuttuni kysyi vuodenvaihteen tienoilla, että olisinko kiinnostunut joskus esittelemään aarteitani jossain. Tuttuni on töissä Nurmon kirjastossa, joten sieltä järjestyi näyttelyvitriinit minulle Toukokuuksi. Eli käykääpäs Toukokuussa pällistelemässä retropelinäyttelyäni Nurmon kirjastossa!

Kotona tuossa viimeviikolla kävin läpi kokoelmaa, että mitäkaikkea näytille laittaa. Tilaa on todellakin rajallinen määrä: hyllytasoja on periaatteessa 12kpl, hyllyjen koko 52 x 32. Valitettavasti suurimman osan konsoleista joutuu laittaa ns. loosena näytille, koska alkuperäiset paketit eivät mahdu vitriiniin... :(

Pelikoneiden sovittelua

Leikkasin pahvista hyllytason kokoisen palan, siihen on helppo mallailla, että mitä mahtuu ja kuinka päin. Valitettavasti osan konsoleista joutuu suoraan jättämään pois kokonsa puolesta, esim: Commodore 64 kasetti- ja levyaseman kanssa ei mahtuisi vitriiniin.

- Käsikonsoleille oma hylly, jonne tulee Gameboyta, Game & Watch pelejä yms.

Ensi viikolla saan Vectrexin, pitää mitata jos sen saa mahtumaan vitriiniin kun poistaa yhden hyllylevyn. Jos se mahtuu, niin sitten se. Jos ei mahdu, niin sitten todennäköisesti Atari Jaguar ja Intellivision.
